There are moments when music seems to stand still.

A chord, a melody or a simple resonance can transport us to places we thought we had forgotten, awaken emotions we didn’t realise were still there, or remind us of what truly matters. It is in this space that David Ruiz Gil finds the meaning of his work as a pianist.

Born in Madrid, he discovered at a very young age that the piano was much more than just an instrument. Over the years, he came to understand that music could become a language capable of expressing what words cannot: beauty, fragility, hope, nostalgia or the joy of being alive.

His career has been marked by a constant search for authenticity. Trained in Madrid and Manchester, he has developed an artistic vision that combines the depth of the classical repertoire with a sensitivity open to contemporary languages. Influenced by composers such as Bach, Chopin, Scriabin and Philip Glass, he conceives each concert as an emotional experience where technique is placed at the service of expression and connection with the audience.

Throughout his career, he has performed in Spain, England, Portugal and Croatia, appearing in concert halls, cultural institutions and heritage venues that share a common vision: music as a living, transformative experience. At the same time, he contributes to cultural outreach projects such as Piano City Madrid, convinced that art should be an accessible space capable of connecting people from different generations and backgrounds.

Far from viewing the stage as a place of display, Mr Ruiz Gil conceives of it as a space for shared listening. Each recital is an invitation to pause, breathe and let the music open up new possibilities for reflection, inspiration and human connection.

For him, music does not exist merely to be heard. It exists to be felt.

Career

Trained at the Victoria de los Ángeles Conservatory, the Katarina Gurska Higher Centre and the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.
